No one knows how to make me feel like shit better than my own mother. I can’t remember not even one moment in my 22 years of existence where I felt loved. Instead, I’ve felt like the biggest inconvenience brought upon her. My mere presence seems to irritate her. It’s ok, though, because I have harbored just as much hate and loathing for her as she has for me.

I hope that one day the children and grandchildren of this generation will look back and be embarrassed of their bigot elders, just as we are embarrassed of our racist elders. I hope that one day soon, gay marriage will be as common and as accepted as marriage in general.

My dad lost his job today. He still hasn’t heard from the one in Texas. My family was already struggling financially. Now I don’t know what is going to happen. I feel so helpless. Why do these things happen to good, hard working people? This country is destroying itself one lay-off at a time. The government is too worried about other things, like abortion and contraception and other countries’ problems, but doesn’t care about it’s own citizens who have families to feed and mortgages to pay. Maybe all these mayors and governors and senators should try making a living off of minimum wage. Maybe then they’ll see the harsh reality the majority of the country deals with every day.
